On December 15, 2021, maritime operations in the Bosphorus were temporarily suspended for two-way vessel transit due to an engine failure on the tanker 'Ahmet Telli.' The vessel, which set sail from Constanta on December 14, was navigating towards the port of Izmit when it encountered difficulties in Keçili Bay. In response to the emergency, the ship's captain sought assistance from the General Directorate of Coastal Safety. They promptly dispatched tugboats 'Kurtarma-10' and 'Kurtarma-7,' along with the lifeboat 'KEGM-5' and a pilot to facilitate the operation. The disabled tanker was subsequently towed to Ahırkapı. After approximately 1.5 hours, the Bosphorus was reopened to ship traffic.
