In a remarkable achievement, the Al Kout has been recognized as the premier tanker in the world for 2014, earning accolades from the prestigious Maritime Reporter and Engineering News magazine for its exceptional environmental standards, robust piracy protection, and proven operational efficiency. This accolade highlights the Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC)'s unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest levels of safety and security aboard its tankers. Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, the CEO of KOTC, expressed pride in the recognition, stating that it reflects the company’s dedication to its role as a national and strategic carrier. He emphasized that these standards are achieved through comprehensive operational procedures and a relentless pursuit of safety excellence. Sheikh Talal also took the opportunity to commend KOTC's dedicated staff for their commitment and hard work, which has propelled the company to its esteemed position among the global leaders in the maritime industry. Additionally, KOTC disclosed in a comprehensive statement to KUNA that the Al Kout, a massive vessel measuring 333 meters in length and 60 meters in width, was delivered in October of the previous year, having been constructed in South Korea.

In a significant achievement for the maritime industry, ClassNK, the leading classification society led by Chairman and President Noboru Ueda, has successfully completed work on the VLCC Al Kout, which boasts a gross tonnage of 165,178 GT. This impressive vessel was built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. (DSME) as part of a dedicated series for the Kuwait Oil Tanker Company S.A.K. (KOTC). The official delivery of Al Kout took place during a ceremonial event at the KOTC Head Office in Kuwait on October 30, 2014. Al Kout stands out as the final addition to a fleet that includes four VLCCs and one Aframax tanker constructed by DSME under stringent ClassNK Rules and Regulations, fulfilling KOTC's high standards for safety and environmental performance. Notably, this VLCC series is the first to adhere to the Performance Standard for Protective Coatings (PSPC) requirements specifically for Cargo Oil Tanks of crude oil tankers, setting a benchmark in industry standards.
