The cargo vessel 'Almeria' has officially resumed its journey to Daressalam, with an estimated time of arrival (ETA) now set for November 22. The ship had been anchored off Skagen while undergoing hull surveys conducted by divers after being successfully salvaged on October 18. The salvage operation was expertly handled by Iskes Towage & Salvage alongside Bugsier Salvage, as they tackled the challenge of freeing the vessel that had run aground during a high tide. Initial attempts to refloat 'Almeria' were unsuccessful until lightering operations were conducted, which involved transferring some of its wheat cargo onto a barge and redistributing the remaining load within the ship's holds. This strategic move proved essential in enabling the salvage team to successfully liberate the ship, allowing it to continue its voyage.

On October 18, the bulk carrier 'Almeria' was successfully refloated with the help of the German tug 'Bugsier 16' and the Dutch tug 'Brent.' After several initial attempts to free the vessel, it was finally able to anchor west of the grounding location. On October 20, 'Almeria' made its way from the grounding site to anchor off Kalundborg before continuing its journey toward Skagen shortly thereafter.

On October 12, 2013, the bulk carrier 'Almeria' ran aground due to navigational errors while transiting the Kadet Trench, located outside the shipping canal. This ship, which was fully loaded, found itself stuck and will require lightering operations to proceed, a process that is estimated to take up to two weeks. The anti-pollution vessel 'Gunnar Seidenfaden' has been deployed to the scene to assist with any potential environmental impacts. No tugboats have been summoned at this time. The 'Almeria' had departed from Gdynia and was en route to Daressalam, navigating through the Skagerak, before veering off-course south of Gedser, leading to its grounding due to its 11-meter draft. Preliminary reports suggest that the vessel's crew may have attempted a shortcut which resulted in the ship straying too close to the southern tip of Gedser.
