On the evening of July 27, 2018, a critical medevac operation was executed by the US Coast Guard approximately 35 miles south of Brownsville, Texas. The situation unfolded aboard the tanker 'Alpine Link,' where a 58-year-old crew member was experiencing alarming symptoms consistent with cardiac arrest. In response to the captain's distress call, watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi swiftly engaged the duty flight surgeon, who approved the necessary medevac. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Corpus Christi promptly arrived at the scene, successfully hoisted the affected crewmember, and transported him to emergency medical personnel at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville for urgent care.
