What Crew Members Say About Andromeda

In a dramatic turn of events on May 15, 2022, Greenpeace activists took action to prevent the oil tanker 'Andromeda', carrying 33,000 tonnes of Russian diesel from Primorsk, from docking at Thamesport. The activists, in a bold display of protest, voiced their commitment to opposing British government financing that indirectly supports Russia's war on Ukraine, stating, "If the British government will not say no to funding Putin's war against Ukraine, then we will do it for them." Twelve brave activists breached security measures and made their way onto the quay, successfully halting the tanker from entering its designated berth. The ship, instead of docking, was forced to turn around and drop anchor at coordinates 51° 31.55' N and 001° 31.24' E. While several activists faced arrest by the police, others remained steadfast at the jetty, continuing to block the tanker’s progress. Greenpeace reiterated its call for the UK government to cease its support for Russia and to reduce dependence on fossil fuels amidst the ongoing conflict.
