ITF Intervention Halts Operations of 'Obahan C' at Halmstad Port
On March 8, 2012, the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) intervened to block the Turkish vessel 'Obahan C' from conducting any loading or unloading operations at Halmstad Port in Sweden. The action came to a halt in the afternoon as it was revealed that the crew, hailing from Turkey, is not protected under any collective bargaining agreement, leaving them without essential insurance or salary guarantees. The vessel had arrived in Halmstad on March 7 after its journey from Lisbon and was scheduled to depart for Turkey either later that day or the following day, Saturday.
