In an incident that unfolded on the evening of January 18, 2012, at 9:15 p.m., the tanker 'Sloman Themis' collided with the vessel 'Althiri' while at the Hoek van Holland anchorage. The 'Sloman Themis', carrying a crew of 24 and arriving from Apenrade, was in the process of anchoring when it was struck by the other ship. This unfortunate encounter resulted in damage to the bow of the 'Sloman Themis' and caused its anchor chain to break. Meanwhile, the 'Althiri', with a crew of 21 and coming in from Antwerp, sustained damage to its superstructure. Thankfully, all damages sustained by both vessels were above the waterline, preventing any severe consequences at sea. Following the collision, both ships remained anchored for a period before making their way to Rotterdam under tug escort. The 'Althiri' successfully berthed at the Europoort shortly before 6 a.m. on January 19.
