What Crew Members Say About Athlos

On October 10, 2020, a crew member aboard the tanker 'Athlos' went missing while navigating through the waters off Agiokampos, Larissa. The incident unfolded around noon when the captain of the vessel reported the crew member's disappearance while the ship was positioned 15 miles east of Agiokampos, en route from Elefsina to Thessaloniki with its cargo unloaded. In response to the emergency, local Port Authorities, including those from Thessaloniki, Volos, Skiathos, Nea Moudania, Platamona, Skala Katerini, Skopelos, Agiokampos Larissa, Agios Ioannis Mouresiou, and Alonissos, were alerted, initiating a comprehensive Search and Rescue (SAR) operation. Unfortunately, despite the extensive search efforts, there have been no positive outcomes reported thus far. The 'Athlos' successfully moored in Thessaloniki the following day, October 11, 2020.

The combined chemical and oil tanker Athlos is currently undergoing extensive repairs and maintenance at the Tuzla shipyard. As of July 7, the vessel continues to be stationary at the facility, with work actively being performed to ensure its operational readiness.

Repair work is currently being conducted on the fire-affected vessel 'Athlos' at Tuzla, focusing on the steel renewals in cargo storage tank 5. Following the completion of these essential repairs, air tightness evaluations and inspections of the pumping system will be undertaken to ensure the vessel's operational safety. Notably, permanent repairs were finalized earlier, leading to the issuance of new trading certificates on August 9. At 9:40 AM, 'Athlos' departed Tuzla, setting sail towards Port Said.
