DHT Holdings Agrees to Offload VLCCs, Including DHT Eagle

Nov 25, 2017 01:13

DHT Holdings, Inc. has announced a strategic decision to divest its three oldest Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs), namely the DHT Utah and DHT Utik, both launched in 2001, alongside the DHT Eagle, which was built in 2002. The agreement, revealed in a recent press release from the company, involves a total transaction value of $66.5 million. As part of this transaction, approximately $33.5 million of associated bank debt will be settled. DHT Holdings anticipates that the DHT Utah and DHT Eagle will be handed over to the new owner by the end of 2017, while the DHT Utik is scheduled for delivery in January 2018. However, the company estimates a book loss of roughly $3.5 million in Q4 2017 due to the sale, primarily linked to the DHT Eagle. Post-sale, DHT's fleet of VLCCs will have an average age of 6.1 years, reflecting the company's ongoing fleet renewal strategy. DHT Holdings remains well-positioned in the market, boasting a solid balance sheet, a fleet of high-quality vessels, competitive cost structures, and favorable time charter contracts.
