Authorities discovered that a 48-year-old engineer had improperly stored several cubic meters of oil sludge within the vessel, leading to criminal charges for the illegal storage of oily waste. Additionally, the ship's captain, aged 39, failed to provide documentation for the necessary transformation from high-sulfur to low-sulfur fuel, resulting in a security deposit of 530 Euros imposed on the captain. Following the inspection, the MV Nodic Helsinki, which had arrived from Rouen on July 8, was permitted to depart for Port Alfred on July 9 at around 10 p.m. Investigations into these offenses are currently ongoing.
