Tanker Baltic Sapphire Successfully Towed to Syros After Technical Failure
The vessel 'Baltic Sapphire' encountered a significant technical malfunction while positioned south of Bozcaada anchorage on April 4, 2019. In response, the Greek tug 'Christos XXII' (IMO: 7230135) was dispatched to tow the disabled tanker to safety. The towage operation began on the same day, and both vessels reached the vicinity of Syros by midday on April 6. Following the incident, on June 3, the ship's owners provided a new set of spare parts, and repair efforts are currently underway to restore the tanker to operational condition.
