In a strategic move, Germany's NSC Schifffahrtsgesellschaft has finalized the sale of four post-panamax bulk carriers to the renowned Oldendorff for a total of $41.1 million, as reported by industry brokers. The transaction includes the 93,000-dwt vessels: Tango Sea, Tonda Sea, Tana Sea, all constructed in 2011, along with the Tonic Sea, which was built in 2012. Each of these vessels was sold for $9.5 million, marking a significant update in the maritime sector.

In a noteworthy incident in Hjørring, a Polish captain has been fined 25,000 Danish crowns for navigating the bulker 'Tonic Sea' while under the influence of alcohol. The event took place on September 29, 2015, as the vessel was departing from Hirtshals. Concerned naval personnel alerted authorities after suspecting the captain's intoxication during the navigation process. A patrol unit from the North Jutland Police swiftly boarded the vessel, dispatched from the Hirtshals Rescue Station, and confirmed the suspicions. The captain was found with a blood alcohol content of 1.33 per thousand, leading to his arrest and subsequent removal from the ship. As a result, 'Tonic Sea' was temporarily halted and prohibited from proceeding until a replacement crew was arranged. The shipping company, NSC Holding GmbH & Cie. based in Hamburg, promptly assigned a new captain to ensure the ship could continue its journey to the container terminal at UST-Luga. Although the captain did not appear in court, he permitted the proceedings to advance without him, as explained by prosecutor Ingrid Munch Hansen. Witness testimonies, including the marine officer who initially communicated with the captain, played a crucial role in the conviction and determination of the fine.

On September 30, the cargo vessel 'Tonic Sea' resumed its journey after a fine was settled, following a troubling incident involving its captain. The ship had been detained by the North Jutland Police on September 29 at 1:40 a.m. in Danish territorial waters, where officers conducted a breathalyzer test on the captain. The results revealed an alarming blood alcohol level of 1.34 per thousand. The authorities grew suspicious when the captain requested a pilot from the Danish maritime authorities for navigation from Gedser to Skagen, even though the vessel was actually heading away from Skagen and set for Ust-Luga, expected to arrive on October 3 at 1 a.m. Following the completion of legal formalities, the 'Tonic Sea' is now back on course under new leadership.
