In a dramatic incident on April 12, 2019, a floating dock at the Kuzey Star shipyard in Tuzla suffered a catastrophic failure, breaking into two during a docking procedure. This unfortunate event led to water ingress in two vessels, one of which was the Russian tanker "Lazurit," measuring 2,597 gross tons (GT). As the dock flooded, a crane from the facility also collapsed into the sea, resulting in injuries to one crane operator who sustained leg injuries.
