The bulk carrier 'Bomustafa O' has reportedly set sail from the Samsun port on April 25, 2023, amid allegations that it is carrying 19,000 tonnes of grain pilfered from occupied Ukrainian territories. Ukrainian authorities in Kyiv have formally requested that Turkish officials take action to detain the vessel. Prior to its departure, it is believed that the grain was illicitly transferred to the 'Bomustafa O' from another vessel, the 'Vera' (IMO: 8602957), during a ship-to-ship transfer at the Kavkaz anchorage. The 'Vera' had previously filled its holds in the occupied Crimean port of Kerch, and had turned off its Automatic Identification System (AIS) at the end of March, a tactic it employs frequently, having recorded 13 gaps in AIS data since the onset of the conflict. The 'Bomustafa O' itself arrived at Kavkaz anchorage, a designated area for Russian grain exports, on March 23, where it was anchored for 20 days and experienced nine AIS gaps while in the area south of the Kerch Strait.

In a dramatic incident on the night of January 24, 2019, the cargo vessel 'Allegra,' traveling at a speed of 12.5 knots between the Nigerian cities of Lagos and Onne, came under attack from a group of pirates. The assailants, armed and numbering at least five, approached the vessel in a skiff and opened fire. Fortunately, the ship was equipped with a Nigerian naval team on board, who swiftly responded to the threat and successfully repelled the attackers. Despite the aggressive nature of the assault, the 'Allegra' sustained damage but avoided a more severe outcome thanks to the timely intervention of the naval personnel.
