The tanker, navigating between Zoutelande and Nieuwvliet, raised concerns due to excess vapors on board. In response, Safety Zealand was alerted to assess the situation. Rijkswaterstaat swiftly dispatched a team from the Maritime Incident Response Group (MIRG) from the Poseidon pier in Flushing, with their unit, the 'RWS 78,' departing approximately one hour after the initial alarm. As the situation unfolded, the MIRG conducted thorough assessments after arriving on scene. By 7:55 p.m., they reported no hazardous substances had been detected in the area. Further evaluations were carried out around 8:30 p.m., which again confirmed the absence of dangerous materials. During the incident, the Bow Hector was en route from Antwerp to Rotterdam, ensuring the crew and environment remained safe throughout the event.
