BLRT Grupp's Turku Repair Yard has proudly announced the successful completion of extensive repairs on the SCF Baltica, an Aframax-sized oil tanker. The adept team at the shipyard undertook the crucial task of dismantling, machining, reassembling, and ensuring the precise balancing of the vessel's shaft line and propeller, which weighs an impressive 35 tons. Additionally, the main propulsion system, a B&W 7S60ME-C engine with a power output of 16,660 kW and a weight of approximately 500 tons, was expertly realigned with the shaft line using Chockfast orange. According to a recent press release from the company, the Turku Repair Yard has a proven track record in performing similar repairs on various vessels. Notably, the SCF Baltica holds significance as the first tanker of Aframax size. This vessel is managed by Sovkomflot, the second-largest operator in the world for Aframax-sized vessels, based in Russia.
