Bts-Calypso Vessel Reviews and Specifications

Ardmore Shipping has announced the successful sale of two five-year-old chemical tankers, Ardmore Calypso and Ardmore Capella, to Singapore’s BTS Tankers for a total of $38.5 million. The 17,600 dwt vessels are set to deliver to their new owners in April and May of next year, which Ardmore anticipates will yield a net gain of approximately $1.6 million. CEO Anthony Gurnee expressed his satisfaction with the sale, stating, "We are pleased to announce the sale of the Calypso and Capella at an attractive price, reflecting a positive outlook for the chemical sector." He further explained that while these vessels performed well over the past five years, their relatively small size places them outside the company's strategic focus on vessels of 25,000 dwt or larger. With this notable transaction, Ardmore aims to effectively redeploy its capital into larger vessels following the completion of the sale in early 2016.
