On October 1, 2019, the cargo ship 'Bunun Ace', which was en route from Patillos, experienced an allision with a pier while attempting to moor at Imbituba at approximately 2:30 p.m. The incident resulted in significant damage to the starboard bow of the vessel. Fortunately, the skilled assistance of nearby tugs allowed the ship to be secured and safely berthed by around 5 p.m. Notably, the allision did not affect the functionality of the port, which remained fully operational. There were no injuries reported among the crew of 16, and the vessel was transporting a substantial cargo of 35,000 tons of salt at the time of the accident.
