Coast Guard Conducts Urgent Medevac Operations Near Freeport
On the evening of September 18, 2015, a 54-year-old man aboard the vessel 'Canadian Highway' required urgent medical attention approximately 100 miles southeast of Freeport. At around 9:30 p.m., the vessel's crew reached out to the Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders, reporting that one of their members was possibly experiencing a stroke. In response, the Coast Guard Air Station Houston promptly dispatched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter. Arriving on the scene around 10:40 p.m., the crew was equipped to conduct the necessary extraction. Simultaneously, Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi deployed an HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew to ensure communication and safety during the operation. The man was successfully hoisted and subsequently transported to Clear Lake Regional Medical Center in Webster, where he was confirmed to be in stable condition following the incident.
