On April 13, 2010, during the midday hours, the tanker 'Jo Ask' encountered a serious incident as it ran aground along the embankment of the Caland Canal near Hoek van Holland on the Maas, specifically close to the 3rd Petrol Harbour adjacent to the Maas Lock. The grounding was attributed to a rudder failure, which left the vessel trapped on the northern shore. Fortunately, the situation was swiftly addressed with the timely intervention of the tugboat 'Buizerd,' the first responder on the scene. Following the initial assistance, the 'Smit Bison' also joined the operation. After the 'Jo Ask' managed to regain some control and refloated itself, it was escorted safely to the petrol harbor by the supportive tug.
