On November 15, 2018, at 2:30 PM, the bulk carrier Centennial Harmony encountered severe challenges while navigating the North Atlantic, approximately 270 miles southeast of St. John's, Newfoundland, and just 60 miles from the Terra Nova oilfield. The vessel, en route from Sept-Îles in eastern Quebec to Port Talbot in the UK, experienced significant flooding and engine malfunctions. Amidst rising tensions, the crew of 21 initially readied themselves for an emergency evacuation but successfully managed to regain control of the situation.
