On October 6, 2014, at 5:35 PM, the tanker 'JS Alular', while navigating through the Caskets traffic separation zone, received a mayday call from an unidentified vessel in distress. The alarming message indicated a position within the English coastal zone, prompting an immediate response from CROSS Jobourg. The agency quickly reached out to the Coastguard Maritime Rescue Center Solent, which took the lead in coordinating a Search and Rescue (SAR) operation. To bolster the rescue efforts, CROSS Jobourg proposed the deployment of an EC 225 helicopter from the French Navy stationed in Maupertus.
