On September 4, 2019, the cargo vessel Colorado Star, which was making its way from Rotterdam to La Rochelle with a crew of 19, encountered engine troubles at coordinates 50°09'50.0" N, 2°13'32.0" W around 6:35 p.m. Fortunately, swift repairs allowed the ship to resume its journey just ten minutes later at 6:45 p.m. At the time of the incident, Colorado Star was transporting a substantial load, including 4,796 tons of kerosene and 1,733 tons of jet fuel. The vessel successfully anchored off La Rochelle on the morning of September 7.

On the evening of December 18, 2012, at approximately 10:15 PM, the tranquility of Ijmuiden was abruptly interrupted by a series of loud explosions and bright flashes from the vessel 'Colorado Star' as it navigated through the locks after departing from Amsterdam. Initial reports confirmed that the cause was an ignition within one of the ship's exhaust pipes, resulting in a flash fire that lasted for several moments. Fortunately, the crew was able to keep the ship in stable condition, allowing it to safely continue its journey to Immingham, setting sail again around midnight. This incident serves as a reminder of the potential hazards maritime vessels can face during transit.
