Storm Xavier Causes Collision at Bremerhaven Port Involving Cygnus Leader and Asian King
On October 5, 2017, the car carrier "Cygnus Leader" lost its moorings in the North port of Bremerhaven as powerful gusts from Storm Xavier swept through the area. The vessel collided with the parked vehicles carrier "Asian King" (IMO: 9203291) before tugs managed to regain control of the situation. Despite the incident, the "Asian King" successfully departed the port heading for Gothenburg at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, the "Cygnus Leader," which had arrived from Izmit the previous day at 10 p.m., was escorted back to berth N after sustaining damage to its stern ramp. By midnight, the vessel was relocated to the German Dry Dock to undergo repairs.
