On February 26, 2025, the Vietnam Coast Guard successfully conducted a medical evacuation of a crew member from the tanker 'Danisa', located 111 nautical miles southeast of Con Dao Island in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province. The distress call was initiated around 6:00 p.m. by the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (VMRCC) after 40-year-old Dao Van Quang from Nghe An province experienced an acute appendicitis episode that posed a life-threatening risk. The 'Danisa' promptly altered its route towards Con Dao, aiming to anchor approximately 1.5 nautical miles from the island by 2:00 a.m. As the situation escalated, the Vietnam Coast Guard Region 3 Command dispatched Coast Guard Ship 2011, complete with a medical rescue team, at 1:30 a.m. By 2:50 a.m., the rescue team reached the 'Danisa', where they quickly assessed the sailor's condition and administered first aid. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the medical team made the decision to evacuate Quang for immediate treatment ashore.
