On December 21, 2024, at 10:35 a.m. local time, the tanker 'Daya Armada 02', en route from Sambu to Merak, Banten, experienced a significant engine failure, rendering the vessel Not Under Command (NUC) in the northern section of the Sunda Strait. Following the master's report of technical difficulties, the Merak Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) issued a Notice to Mariners (NTM) at 10:40 a.m., updating all vessels operating in the vicinity of the situation. A further NTM was broadcasted at 11:19 a.m. By 11:23 a.m., the KN 'Alugara P.114' was dispatched to provide assistance to the stranded tanker. Fortunately, by 11:43 a.m., the crew of 'Daya Armada 02' reported to the Merak VTS that they had successfully completed the necessary repairs. The vessel then resumed operations, proceeding at a reduced speed on one engine toward the Tanjung Sekong anchorage area.
