On April 30, 2020, the tanker 'St Marseille' encountered legal trouble as the local environmental pollution prevention authorities issued a substantial fine due to a violation of MARPOL regulations at Iskenderun. During investigations, it was determined that the crew unlawfully discharged contaminated and oily ballast water, prompting the enforcement of a fine totaling approximately $173,500. In response to this breach, the Harbour Master has suspended the vessel's departure permissions until the fine and associated cleaning costs are fully settled. On the morning of February 27, 2018, the oil tanker 'St. Marseille' became the target of a brazen pirate attack while anchored at Cotonou Anchorage in the Gulf of Guinea. A group of five armed assailants struck the vessel, injuring two Beninese security guards in the process. Thankfully, the tanker, which was carrying ballast and not cargo at the time, provided no spoils for the pirates, who eventually fled the scene. The crew on board remained safe throughout the incident. Following the attack, 'St. Marseille' was successfully escorted to port, where it was securely berthed by 9 a.m.
