Holland Shipyards, located in Hardinxveld-Giessendam, Netherlands, has officially launched the conversion process for two vessels acquired by Chevalier Floatels. These ships are being transformed to serve as offshore accommodation and transport solutions specifically catering to personnel working at wind farm projects. Originally built at the Remontowa yard in Gdansk, Poland, the vessels were launched as passenger ferries named Siluna Ace and Simara Ace in 2007 and 2008. Their initial role involved ferrying passengers across the Öresund strait between Denmark and Sweden. However, with the advent of the fixed link, these ferries became surplus to operational needs, paving the way for their new role in supporting renewable energy initiatives.
