Working Conditions Aboard the Ds-Prosperity

On August 2, 2026, the vessel 'DS Prosperity' encountered significant regulatory issues as it was detained in Qinhuangdao due to a total of eight serious deficiencies. The findings pointed to multiple critical safety violations, with the most alarming being related to fire safety measures. Among the noted deficiencies were the jacketed high-pressure lines and oil leakage alarm system, as well as the fixed fire extinguishing installation. Additionally, concerns were raised about the emergency power systems, specifically the emergency generator, which also fell short of compliance. Other violations included issues pertaining to pollution prevention under MARPOL Annex I, particularly the 15 PPM alarm arrangements. The vessel was also cited for failures in their ISM (International Safety Management) system, further compounding the situation. Other deficiencies included inadequacies in the fire pump systems and its pipelines, as well as issues with covers for hatchways and tarpaulins. Each of these deficiencies was noted as being outside the responsibility of the Recognized Organization (RO) overseeing the vessel's compliance.
