Emergency Medevac Operation Near Galveston
On October 5, 2019, a significant medevac operation took place 92 miles off the coast of Galveston, Texas, involving the crude oil tanker 'Paramount Hanover'. The US Coast Guard was alerted when the captain reported that a 20-year-old crew member was experiencing severe abdominal pain. Upon receiving the request, the watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston promptly engaged with the duty flight surgeon, who advised that a medevac was necessary. In response, a helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Houston, along with an aircrew from Air Station Corpus Christi, was dispatched to the scene. The MH-65 Dolphin helicopter successfully hoisted the patient and transported him to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he was reported to be in stable condition following the emergency medical intervention.
