On March 3, 2017, the US Coast Guard executed a medical evacuation for a man suffering from a medical emergency aboard the 'Evoikos Theo' in Chesapeake Bay. The request for assistance came in at around 7:15 p.m. The swift response team, comprising an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, made their way to the vessel, which was located just west of Cape Charles. Utilizing a rescue basket, the crew successfully hoisted the man to safety and transported him to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk for urgent medical care.
