Working Conditions Aboard the Easterly-Lime-Galaxy

On August 7, 2018, the merchant vessel 'Lime Galaxy', which was traveling from Istanbul to Le Havre, encountered a situation where it was reported not under command at coordinates 45 23N, 008 15W. At approximately 2:20 PM, the crew undertook a critical decarbonisation process of the engine. By 6 PM, after successfully completing the required repairs, the 'Lime Galaxy' was back on course, continuing its journey towards Le Havre.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has announced significant advancements in managing the oil spill that resulted from a maritime incident on Wednesday involving the Hong Kong-flagged chemical tanker Lime Galaxy and the China-flagged container ship Feihe. The collision took place approximately 2.7 kilometers south of Jurong Island. In a positive update, the MPA confirmed that there has been no further leakage of bunker fuel from the Feihe. To ensure safety and prevent any potential environmental impact, oil booms along with an oil spill response vessel have been strategically deployed around the affected ship. To bolster containment efforts, a total of 10 vessels from the MPA and various oil spill response firms are actively engaged in the clean-up operation. The collaborative efforts underline the commitment to protecting Singapore's waters and maintaining maritime safety.

On the evening of January 29, 2014, a maritime collision occurred off Singapore involving the Chinese container ship, m/v 'Fei He,' and the chemical tanker 'Lime Galaxy.' The collision transpired approximately 2.7 miles south of Jurong Island while the 'Lime Galaxy' was on its journey from Singapore to Anping. Prior to the accident, the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore’s Port Operations Control Centre made efforts to warn both vessels of their paths crossing. As a result of the incident, a bunker tank on the 'Fei He' was compromised, leading to a minor oil spill, though there were no reported damages to the 'Lime Galaxy.' Following the collision, both vessels anchored safely, and authorities quickly implemented containment measures, deploying oil booms around the stricken container ship. In total, 10 response craft from the MPA and specialized oil spill response teams were mobilized to manage the situation and mitigate any environmental impact. Fortunately, vessel traffic in the busy Strait of Singapore and overall port operations continued without disruption.
