In a recent development, Tokyo Gas in Japan declined to accept the delivery of the LNG tanker 'Energy Atlantic' on October 10, 2019, following a power failure that occurred shortly after the vessel's entry into Tokyo Bay. The tanker, which had previously loaded its cargo at the Corpus Christi LNG Terminal on September 3, was en route to the Negishi terminal for delivery. Although the 'Energy Atlantic' managed to restore power, Tokyo Gas opted not to proceed with the delivery out of an abundance of caution, as the vessel's operator could not provide clarity on the cause of the power outage. Fortunately, Tokyo Gas has robust stockpiles of LNG, ensuring that there are no immediate supply concerns for the company.
