On April 6, 2015, a critical medevac operation was carried out by the KNRM lifeboat stationed in Breskens for a crew member aboard the chemical tanker 'Procida' in Flushing East. The crew discovered the individual unconscious and promptly reached out to the Radio Medical Service for guidance. Following a thorough assessment, the attending physician recommended an immediate evacuation. At 8:30 a.m., the lifeboat 'Zeemanshoop' was dispatched to the anchorage where the tanker was engaged in bunker operations at the buoys. In parallel, an ambulance was also put on standby. With teamwork at the forefront, three crew members from the 'Procida' hoisted the stretcher aboard, ensuring the patient's safe transfer. In a coordinated effort, the police vessel 'P41' facilitated the transfer of ambulance personnel onto the lifeboat. Meanwhile, the KNRM crew worked diligently to stabilize the medical condition of the patient. Utilizing the tanker’s deck crane, the KNRM crew successfully lifted the individual onto their vessel. Upon arrival at the Vlissingse Bootliedenwacht (VLB), the patient was promptly placed into the awaiting ambulance for further medical treatment.
