In a robust move against illicit oil trade, the United States government has placed sanctions on multiple entities and vessels implicated in the transportation of Iranian oil. These sanctions are part of an effort to disrupt financial support for militant actions linked to Hezbollah and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force (IRGC-QF). Among the sanctioned vessels are 'Confidence P' (IMO: 9178044), 'Nova' (IMO: 9231224), 'Rival' (IMO: 9117818), and 'Tiyara' (IMO: 9231224), all of which have connections to Abdul Jalil Mallah. His brother, Luay al-Mallah, who recently appeared on the sanctions list, has been noted for his involvement in the illegal shipping sector, facilitating the transfers of Iranian oil that benefit both Hezbollah and the IRGC-QF. All associated properties and individuals have been prohibited from US jurisdiction. Additionally, Star Ocean Shipmanage Ltd. has come under sanctions, along with three of its vessels: 'Eternal Success' (IMO: 9307633), 'Eternal 8' (IMO: 9232448), and 'Eternal Peace' (IMO: 9259745). These ships reportedly engaged in operations breaching US sanctions against the IRGC-QF as late as July 2024, employing tactics such as ship-to-ship transfers and AIS spoofing to hide their activities. Another vessel, 'Serene I' (IMO: 9197832), has been sanctioned for its role in loading and transporting IRGC-QF oil from Iran to China on behalf of Concepto Screen SAL Offshore, a company with alleged links to Hezbollah. The owner of 'Serene I', Dragon Road Ltd., based in the Marshall Islands, is also subject to the sanctions. Moreover, the tanker 'Feng Tau' (IMO: 9248473), accused of shipping oil from Iran to mainland China, along with its owner Tai Feng Hai Shipping Ltd., based in Hong Kong, have been designated under these sanctions.

A new charter agreement has been secured for transporting 130,000 tons of dirty cargo from the U.S. Gulf to the West Coast of India. The deal, valued at $1.90 million, was finalized on September 6 and involves Emirates National Oil Company (Enoc). This significant shipping arrangement highlights the continued demand for bulk transport services in the maritime industry.
