The luxury cruise liner 'Europa 2', currently en route from Melbourne to Auckland, encountered an unexpected electrical issue during its voyage, which commenced on December 1. The ship was temporarily anchored off the coast of Hobart from December 5 to December 7 for essential repairs. Fortunately, the defect has been addressed, allowing the Europa 2 to continue its journey. The vessel is now navigating an adjusted route, with an anticipated arrival in the stunning New Zealand Sounds and an expected docking in Auckland set for December 19.

In a strategic move to enhance guest experiences, Blohm+Voss, the renowned German shipyard, is set to undertake significant refitting projects on Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ luxury vessels, Europa and Europa 2, by the end of October 2017. The refit will focus on essential maintenance as well as technical upgrades, ensuring both ships remain at the forefront of modern cruising. Notably, select onboard areas will receive aesthetic improvements with new décor and equipment designed to elevate the ambiance and comfort for passengers. Karl J. Pojer, the CEO of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, expressed the company’s commitment to enhancing customer satisfaction, stating, "During our ships’ docking periods, we not only carry out the necessary technical maintenance, but also complete various renovations that directly impact our guests’ cruise experience. These enhancements may include the addition of a new bar, a redesigned spa, or an entire area makeover." Pojer further emphasized the importance of aligning renovations with passenger preferences while remaining attuned to current trends in the cruise industry. The upgrade process for the Europa will kick off with a scheduled dry dock on September 13, 2017. Among the highlights of this refit is the complete redesign of The Belvedere lounge, located at the ship’s bow, which will now feature improved access to the library and a new coffee bar. These initiatives underscore Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ dedication to providing an unforgettable cruising experience for its guests.

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ luxury vessel, Europa 2, successfully completed its inaugural scheduled docking at the renowned Blohm + Voss shipyard in Hamburg from April 11 to April 24, 2015. This vital maintenance period not only focused on technical upgrades but also included extensive cosmetic enhancements and modernization efforts onboard. Notable improvements featured a complete redesign of popular dining venues such as the Sansibar and the Sushi Restaurant Sakura. Additionally, the eight family apartments aboard were upgraded to enhance comfort and family-friendliness. The comprehensive overhaul included around 700 modifications and enhancements, carried out by a skilled workforce of over 600 professionals representing 80 predominantly international companies. The impressive transformation saw the installation of more than 4,500 square meters (15,000 square feet) of new carpeting and the application of 2,000 liters (528 pounds) of paint, ensuring that Europa 2 remains a premier choice for cruise enthusiasts.
