On December 16, 2024, during the Foreign Affairs Council meeting, the European Union unveiled its latest sanctions package, bringing the total number of vessels on its sanctions list to 79. This update includes 52 additional ships, notably the 'Fjord Seal', which have been identified as contributors to Russia’s military operations in its ongoing conflict. Many of the sanctioned vessels are implicated in evading the oil price cap set by Western nations, facilitating arms shipments, and transporting pilfered grain. Furthermore, the package targets 54 individuals and 30 entities linked to boosting Russia’s wartime activities. Notably, several of the sanctioned parties are located in China and North Korea, accused of providing dual-use materials crucial for military support. This includes two high-ranking officials from North Korea and seven entities and individuals from China. The overarching goal of these sanctions is to escalate operational expenses for Russia by restricting access to EU ports and limiting their ability to obtain maritime services.

In a significant development, a new charter has been finalized for $22,500, covering a duration of one year. The esteemed trading company Trafigura is the recipient of this charter, signaling a strong partnership for the upcoming trading period.
