Amid ongoing US sanctions, the Iranian tanker 'Fortune' reached the shores of Venezuela on October 1, closely followed by the 'Faxon'. Earlier, on September 29, the 'Forest' had already docked at El Palito to offload a substantial delivery of crude oil. Collectively, these three vessels carried a total of 823,899 barrels of Iranian fuel and additional oil. On October 1, the 'Faxon' was observed navigating along the Guyanese coast. To evade detection and avoid US sanctions, all three tankers undertook a route through southern Africa, then sailed toward the Caribbean before finally entering Venezuelan waters with their tracking systems disabled.

The Venezuelan port of El Palito welcomed its second Iranian tanker, the 'Forest', on May 26, 2020, marking an important milestone in the delivery of fuel from Iran. This follows the arrival of the initial tanker, 'Fortune', which successfully docked at the same location on May 25, 2020. Together, these vessels are part of a total fleet of five tankers expected to transport nearly 1,500,000 barrels of gasoline to Venezuela amidst ongoing fuel shortages. Notably, El Palito's deep draft docking facilities are uniquely equipped to accommodate these sizable tankers, ensuring the smooth transfer of vital resources.
