On February 23, 2021, the United States Coast Guard executed a vital medevac operation off the coast of Port Aransas, Texas, assisting a 41-year-old crew member aboard the tanker vessel 'Fortunato'. The incident unfolded when watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi received a distress call at 9:40 a.m. via mobile phone, reporting a crew member in distress due to severe facial swelling. Responding swiftly, a dedicated crew from Station Port Aransas launched a 45-foot Response Boat–Medium to reach the tanker. Upon arrival, they successfully boarded the vessel, provided immediate assistance to the ailing crew member, and transported him back to Station Port Aransas, where emergency medical services personnel were on standby to ensure he received the necessary care.

On January 19, 2020, at 5 a.m., the tanker 'Fortunato' was targeted by two armed intruders at the Cartagena anchorage, specifically at coordinates 10° 19' 01.2" N, 75° 31' 24.6" W. The assailants, wielding a machete, were spotted on the forecastle of the vessel. Promptly sounding the alarm, the crew gathered in response to the situation. Upon noticing the heightened alertness of the crew, the intruders hastily retreated and escaped the scene. Authorities were immediately informed, and a Coast Guard team was dispatched for a thorough inspection of the vessel. Fortunately, the crew reported that no items were stolen during the incident.
