SCF Group Unveils New Ice-Breaking Supply Vessel 'Gennadiy Nevelskoy' at Arctech Helsinki Shipyard
On January 30, 2017, the SCF Group celebrated a significant milestone with the naming ceremony of their latest ice-breaking platform supply vessel (IBSV), which has been aptly named 'Gennadiy Nevelskoy' in honor of the renowned explorer of the Russian Far East. Constructed to adhere to the highest international maritime standards, this cutting-edge IBSV is engineered to thrive in challenging maritime environments. With a deadweight capacity of 3,000 tonnes, Gennadiy Nevelskoy will be registered under the Russian flag and will call Saint Petersburg home. This vessel marks the beginning of a fleet expansion for SCF Group, as it's the first of four vessels slated for delivery. Three additional ice-breaking standby vessels (IBSBVs) are also in the works, featuring a reduced deadweight of 2,000 tonnes while enhancing functional capacity and accommodation. All vessels are currently under construction at the Arctech Helsinki Shipyard, which is tasked with overseeing the entire process from design and hull assembly to outfitting, testing, and eventual commissioning. The construction of these vessels is set to generate approximately 3,500 man-years of employment at the Helsinki Shipyard, highlighting the economic impact of this project.
