Glomar Offshore, a prominent Dutch operator specializing in offshore support vessels, has officially announced the extension of its contract for the Glomar Patriot Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel (EERV). This significant deal was confirmed on Monday, with the charter being prolonged for an additional two years, allowing the vessel to continue its crucial operations on the UK Continental Shelf. Originally constructed in 1975 by Welglegen Amels & Zoon in the Netherlands under the name Karmoy Boy, the Glomar Patriot has undergone several transformations throughout its history. In 1991, the vessel received its first major rebuild and was renamed Britannia Endeavour. It joined Viking’s fleet in 2008 before being acquired by Glomar in 2013. That same year, the vessel was once again overhauled in Gdynia, Poland, where it was converted into a Class B Oil & Gas UK Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel and rebranded as Glomar Patriot. With dimensions of 59 meters in length and 12 meters in width, the vessel has a gross tonnage of 1,177 tonnes and is capable of accommodating up to 75 survivors, underscoring its vital role in emergency situations at sea.
