Elwood Lee, a crew member who was aboard the marine vessel 'Balty,' has initiated legal action against Offshore Logistics and Transports LLC following injuries he sustained during an incident on July 20, 2014. The lawsuit was filed on July 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Lee, working as a Jones Act seaman, alleges that he incurred a significant knee injury during an accident that required surgical intervention. In the complaint, Lee accuses the defendants of negligence by failing to uphold their duty of reasonable care, allowing the vessel to operate in an unseaworthy condition, and neglecting to provide a safe working environment. The lawsuit further claims a lack of proper training for crew members, inadequate safety precautions, insufficient safety standards, and an overall absence of the necessary equipment and personnel needed for safe operations.
