Disabled Trawler Rescued in Norwegian Sea
On June 10, 2018, the trawler "Guldrangur" found itself stranded 35 nautical miles southwest of Bear Island while engaged in fishing operations in the Norwegian Sea. The vessel was disabled after a rope became entangled in its propeller. In response, the Russian tugboat "Kapitan Beklemishev" (IMO: 8724080) was dispatched from Murmansk shortly after noon to provide assistance, following unsuccessful attempts by the crew to clear the obstruction themselves. For safety reasons, two Russian fishing vessels, namely "Arkhangelsk" (IMO: 9241059) and "Melkart-2" (IMO: 8701959), positioned themselves on standby near the distressed trawler. By June 11, the "Guldrangur" was confirmed adrift at coordinates 74° 10.75' N, 016° 19.79' E, moving at a sluggish pace of 1.1 knots. On June 12, the stricken trawler was successfully taken in tow, with the destination set for Murmansk. After a brief journey, the vessel reached Kirkenes on June 15 and departed again on June 20 at 6:20 PM.
