On the evening of May 9, 2019, at approximately 10:10 PM, the tanker 'Arionas' was intercepted by a group of eight unarmed intruders while at the Kandla outer anchorage. The vessel, which had departed from Nhava Sheva on May 7, 2019, was en route to Haldia with an estimated arrival date of May 19. At the time of the boarding, the ship was located at coordinates 22°46'08" N, 70°02'08" E, when the robbers approached from the starboard side. They managed to steal two cargo reducers, each measuring 10 inches by 12 inches, from the manifold area. In response to the threat, the ship's Master quickly raised the alarm, utilized the ship's whistle to alert nearby vessels, assembled the crew, and promptly informed the ship's agent. Furthermore, the Marine Police, Indian Coast Guard (ICG), and Kandla port authorities were alerted to address the situation.

In a heartbreaking incident on March 10, 2010, three sailors tragically lost their lives due to food poisoning while aboard the Arionas, which was en route from Cyprus to Rotterdam. The vessel was transporting a substantial 28,000 tonnes of kerosene at the time of the incident. Among the 20 crew members, hailing from Russia and the Philippines, the unexpected health crisis prompted urgent action. French authorities deployed a helicopter, equipped with two gendarmes and a medical doctor, for an initial assessment of the situation. Preliminary investigations were conducted before the Arionas was scheduled to anchor off the coast of Le Havre for more extensive inquiries to commence in the morning of March 10.
