On December 25, 2019, a dramatic maritime rescue unfolded off the coast of Kochi, where the tanker 'BW Larissa' sprang into action to assist the distressed cargo vessel 'Asian Star.' The 'Asian Star' was en route from Map Ta Phut to Singapore when it encountered engine failures and began taking on water approximately 58 miles from the Kerala shoreline in the morning hours. In response to the emergency, the Mumbai-based Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) dispatched the 'BW Larissa' to aid the crew of seven aboard the beleaguered cargo ship.
