The Hansung: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On September 27, 2020, a significant fire erupted on the cargo deck of the vessel 'Hansung' while it was docked at Hakozaki Wharf in Hakata, Fukuoka. The inferno reportedly involved several second-hand cars that had just been loaded at the port. Firefighters worked diligently for three hours to bring the situation under control, but unfortunately, more than a dozen vehicles were left in ruins. In the incident, a Russian crew member sustained burns to his hands and required hospitalization for treatment. The 'Hansung' had arrived in Hakata from Vladivostok on September 23, demonstrating the unpredictable risks associated with cargo transport.

The cargo vessel 'Iman,' previously rendered inoperative by an engine room fire 210 nautical miles off the coast of Vladivostok in the Sea of Japan on November 24, 2017, has successfully resumed its journey. After being towed back to Vladivostok by the supply tug 'Neftegaz 55' on November 25, the 'Iman' underwent extensive repairs. On January 12, 2018, the ship departed from berth 45/46 at the General Cargo Terminal in Vladivostok, loaded with machinery, en route to the port of Zhousan.

On the morning of November 24, 2017, the Marine Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) Vladivostok received an urgent report about a fire erupting in the engine room of the 'Iman,' a vehicle carrier navigating 210 miles off the coast of Vladivostok in the Japan Sea. The vessel, which was transporting a cargo of vehicles from Toyama to Vladivostok, had a crew of 21 Russian nationals on board at the time. Responding swiftly, the crew sealed the affected area and activated the onboard fire suppression system. Fortunately, they managed to extinguish the flames, but the ship sustained significant damage, rendering it disabled and adrift. As a precaution, the offshore supply tug 'Neftegaz 55' (IMO: 8418459) was dispatched to tow the stricken vessel back to Vladivostok. This unfortunate incident comes just days after the second officer of the 'Iman' was discovered dead at Toyama Shinko port on November 12, leading to the arrest of a crew member suspected of murder. After completing all necessary investigations, the 'Iman' was cleared to depart port on November 21, only to confront yet another crisis at sea, underscoring the vessel's turbulent recent history.
