The very large crude carrier 'Happiness 1', which was docked at Jeddah port since May 2 due to engine troubles experienced on April 30, has finally resumed its journey. Following its release, the vessel was towed by the tugs 'Baltic Pearl' (IMO: 9321598) and 'Mississippi' (IMO: 9305726) and departed Jeddah on July 20 at 5 a.m. Currently, the tow is en route to Khor al Fakan, with an estimated arrival date of August 25.

The 'Happiness 1' tanker, which had been held at Jeddah port in Saudi Arabia since May 2, has finally been released following a lengthy 80-day ordeal. The vessel experienced engine failure on April 30 near Jeddah, necessitating repairs at the port. Although the necessary repairs were completed, Saudi authorities detained the tanker, imposing a steep charge of $200,000 per day on Iran for the repairs, despite Iran having already paid over $10 million to the port authority for maintenance. Following intensive negotiations between the National Iranian Tanker Company and Saudi officials, the ship, along with its 26 crew members, is now on its way back home. The circumstances surrounding the release remain unclear, with neither Tehran nor Riyadh providing insight into whether further payments were made regarding the tanker’s release.

In the bustling waters off Jeddah, the 'Happiness I' is currently undergoing essential repairs while anchored in position 21° 18.27' N, 039° 2.47' E. Local tugs from Jeddah port are on standby to assist as needed. Notably, on May 17, the 'Topaz Karama' (IMO: 9591260) had been positioned near the 'Happiness I'. Following this, tugs facilitated the transfer of the 'Topaz Karama' to Jeddah anchorage, where repair activities for both vessels have been in progress as of May 30.
