Seajack Vessels 'Leviathan' and 'Kraken' Ready for Duty After Shipdock Amsterdam Overhaul
'Seajacks Leviathan' and 'Seajacks Kraken' are set for their upcoming missions after undergoing extensive refurbishment at Shipdock Amsterdam. This facility, which is part of Damen Shiprepair & Conversion, was tasked by Seajacks UK Ltd. to perform a range of significant and smaller modifications on both jack-up vessels, which serve the North Sea's offshore wind and oil & gas sectors. Notably, the repairs on 'Seajacks Kraken' included a complete overhaul of its lifeboat davit system. This project involved the installation of prefabricated foundations by Niron Staal, along with four new davits equipped with a powerpack, cabling, winch, and hydraulic systems. The work concluded with thorough test runs and load assessments conducted under the supervision of a qualified surveyor. Additionally, the Kraken’s four legs were meticulously restored following a joint inspection with the principal’s inspectors, employing S690 grade steel for optimal durability. The jack-up vessel also successfully passed crane tests and updated crane hook certification surveys, along with assorted minor steel work and the installation of two new satellite dome platforms.
