On April 21, 2018, the cruise ship Hebridean Sky experienced a grounding incident in the northern central waters of Cuba, specifically near Cayo Media Luna, located at coordinates 22°37'N 078°40'W. The ship ran aground on a sandy bottom at approximately 10 a.m. After several hours of efforts, Hebridean Sky managed to refloat itself at around 5:10 p.m. Following the successful refloating, the vessel navigated to safer waters and resumed its journey by 7:30 p.m. At the time of the incident, the Hebridean Sky was on a voyage from Havana to Antilla, with a scheduled arrival set for April 22.
