What Crew Members Say About Helm

On the evening of August 20, 2019, the tanker 'Helm' encountered significant engine difficulties while navigating the waters of the Red Sea, approximately 30 miles northwest of Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. Following the mechanical failure, the vessel disabled its Automatic Identification System (AIS), leading to a temporary loss of tracking until it reappeared on the same day. The 'Helm' had most recently departed from the port of Caofeidian. To assist the stranded tanker, the offshore supply tug 'Swissco Supplier' (IMO: 9397078) was dispatched and successfully arrived on scene at 4 a.m. on August 21.
